Western Division Teams in the 2014 North American Championships

The Western Divisional Board would like to congratulate all our traveling teams who made the journey to Boston for a very enjoyable tournament. Not all teams could be victorious but we congratulate our champions;

Ulster Gaelic Club San Francisco, who have completed a three in a row of Senior National Football tittles, by defeating Shannon Blues of Boston 2.15 to 0.09. On Saturday they had defeated Philadelphia in the Semi-Final, 4.15 to 2.8. Ulster traveled with a large and skillful panel and proved too strong for the rest of the competitors.

St. Joseph's Hurling Club - Silicon Valley who won the Junior B Hurling title by defeating Barley House 2.15 to 1.13. After wining the local SF Junior championship, this was the icing on the cake in what has been a very successful year for the club.

Naomh Padraig Hurling Club were defeated in the Final by a very skillful Galway Boston team 3.23 to 2.11. Padraig's had entered this game on a high after their Semi-Final win against Boston which saw them trailing by 10 points in the second half but were to fight their way back with 3 goals, Final score in Semi 3.12 to 0.20.

San Francisco Fog City Harps, Senior Ladies Football were defeated in their preliminary games by Boston and Chicago, they had traveled with a minimal squad and where their opponents proved too tough a test.

Clan Na Gael, Intermediate Ladies Football were also defeated in their preliminary game against Charlotte.

Sons of Boru/Celts, Junior A Football were defeated on Saturday in the Semi-Final by Donegal Boston 2.08 to 2.20, after coming out of a very tricky Quarter-Final on Friday against Charlotte 2.17 to 4.10.

Éire Óg SF, Junior C Football, had a comprehensive win against St Louis on Friday, played Denver Gaels in an epic double overtime game and came away with a 1 point win. They had to play their Semi-Final game 3 hours later against Tyrone Philadelphia GAA, where they suffered a 2 point loss. Eire Og had to play two 60+mins games of football on the same day, which is a tough ask for any panel, but they produced some fabulous football over the weekend and for an All American Born Team can be very proud.

SF Shamrocks Intermediate Camoige, were defeated by Toronto 4.5 to 1.1. Our ladies who have no local competition at all throughout the season can find it difficult to be competitive on a National Level. It was also in this game that Naomi Goff a Fog City Harps and Sf Shamrocks player received a severe facial injury and we wish her a speedy recovery.

As always we would like to thank our SF Teams, their coaches, supporters and sponsors who make our SF games a great success each year.
