"Gaelic Games and the Irish-American Experience in San Francisco," Sunday September 24th @ 5pm, at the United Irish Cultural Center,





The Irish Literary and Historical Society are hosting, "Gaelic Games and the Irish-American Experience in San Francisco" this Sunday September 24th @ 5pm, at the United Irish Cultural Center.

This is a lecture and panel discussion on the storied history and thriving Irish sport leagues of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), featuring San Francisco GAA Chairman Bertie Penny and scholar and league official Liam Reidy, with comments by the incoming Irish Consul General Robert O’Driscoll. 


There will also be a GAA Exhibition - of both new and old memorabilia, showcasing the large photographic collection in the local GAA archives will also take place on the night. In addition, medals and cups from various eras will also be on display, donated by many local Gaels. Presented by Irish Literary & Historical Society Free for members and those who join at the event, $5 visitors.

San Francisco GAA and the 2017 USGAA Finals Host Committee would like to congratulate all the SFGAA clubs who competed in the Finals over the Labor Day Weekend!. Hard luck to the following SFGAA Teams who competed at the 2017 USGAA Finals; Na Fianna who were defeated by Austin in the Junior A Hurling Semi Final. Eire Og who lost to Philadelphia in the Junior "B" Football Semi Final. St. Joseph's who lost to Madison in the Junior "B" Hurling Quarter Final, Fog City Harps who lost to Erin Rovers in the Junior A Ladies Football Final and to Charlotte in the Senior Ladies Football Final.
