Results from our 2013 SF Championship 1st Round Games played Sunday the 9th of June!
Rovers and St Joseph's were to share the spoils in a very close and hard fought game to open our 2013 Championship season. Final Score St Joseph's 2.10 Sf Rovers 0.16.
Sons of Boru defeated SF Celts, which turned out to be a very close game especially in the final minutes. However the Boru did come out on top b...y 2 points. The Celts will be disappointed that they did not get something from this game as they missed a couple of vital frees and Aidan O'Flynn crashed a shot off the crossbar in the dying minutes of the game. Boru had set the tone early in this game and will be disappointed that they could not close out the game earlier, with the Celts keeping them on edge right to the end. Final Score Boru 0.12 Celts 0.10.
Sean Treacy's defeated Cusacks in a game that was all square in an entertaining first half with Tracey's 1.03 to Cusacks 0.06. However the second have saw the Treacy's up the tempo with 2 goals within 5mins, one coming from D Foley. Treacy's continued to dominate the second half and only allowed Cusacks one point in the second half. Final Score Sean Treacy's 3.12 Michael Cusacks 0.07.
Ulster defeated YI/SB in a game where Ulster set out their intentions early in the first half with a goal from Micky Duffy inside of 2 mins. Ulster followed on with two further goals to lead at Half Time 3.06 to 0.02. YI's came out in the second have with the intention of treating this half as a new game and they began to see more possession and tightened up their back-line, where they limited Ulster to only 2 points in the second half. However goals win games and YI's were unable to unlock Ulster's inside line. Final Score Ulster 3.08 YI/SB's 0.09.
In the Intermediate competition Ulster got the better of Sean Treacy's in the first of many games that both teams will see each other. In a hotly contested game, Treacy's had set the tone in the first half with a lead Treacy's 1.06 Ulster 0.04. However a sending off in the game for Treacy's was to hurt them down the stretch. Ulster got back into the game with a goal on 41mins. Final Score Ulster 1.11 to Treacy's 1.08
Round 2 of our Championship will begin next Sunday the 16th of June.
